This Fretz® Silversmith large rounded narrow raising hammer features curved, cross-peen faces that work well for sinking, planishing and fluting. The faces fit well into deep concave curves and pod shapes. The rounded edges will leave subtle shimmering hammer marks in the metal. Silversmith hammers are sized-up jeweler's hammers, and have larger heads that are ideal for use with heavier metal gauges, shaping small sculptures and hollowware. Designed by master metalsmith Bill Fretz, this hammer is built for toughness and durability, and delivers all the features of a Fretz® hammer. The face size, head as well as the weight, length and pistol-grip end of the handle are all designed to Fretz’s specifications for balance, control and precision. The oil-finished handle is made of Padauk wood, known for its strength, stability and beauty; it's specially shaped to give you a light touch, and the thin neck flexes slightly as you hammer for ultimate comfort. The head is cast from 420-grade stainless steel and tool hardened to 50 HRC for maximum durability and effectiveness.
