Copper Strip, 1-Lb. Spool, Dead-Soft

This dead-soft, 14-gauge copper bezel strip is formed from round wire that is rolled to flatten it; the edges of the strip are slightly rounded. Bezel strip is an economical way to get just the right amount of material in the gauges you need. This strip is useful for forming custom-shaped or larger bezel mountings or for making bezel backings for small stones. Dead soft copper strip is easy to bend, shape and hammer; it is an ideal starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. Sold in a 1-lb. coil to prevent damage. The color of copper is popular for a variety of mixed-metal and alternative metal designs; its affordability adds an additional facet to its popularity for both maker and clients.
