Featuring a striking kite shape, this rhodolite garnet adds a deep, wine-red color with flashes of lavender to custom jewelry designs and features light-reflecting facets that catch the eye. Rhodolite garnet presents rose to lavender hues that are due to its iron content. Garnets are actually a family of closely related gemstones. The most common color is red; but garnets are also found in green, orange, pink and blue. Garnet exhibits few inclusions, and those that are present tend to be rounded, seedlike crystals with irregular edges. A revival from the 1920s, the kite cut features four sides and a large table that enhances the brilliance of the gemstone.
