14K Yellow Gold 3.56mm Heavy-Wall Tubing, 1/2-Hard

This 1/2-hard, 14-karat yellow gold heavy-wall tubing is ideal for larger hinges and for creating custom tube settings; this size fits a 3mm stone. Choose a section of heavy-wall tubing with an outside diameter about 0.5mm larger than your stone, and enough thickness to allow you to cut a seat to support the stone. Metal that is 1/2-hard is partially work-hardened and will hold its shape under some stress; ideal for forming structures that will support other components. To avoid annealing, use this material only after soldering processes. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. This tubing is available in 12" lengths; due to the cutting capabilities of the saw, minimum purchase is 1".
