This Friedrich Dick hand wax file is an excellent choice for rough shaping of wax models and blocks. It has a coarse-cut, curved-tooth design on one side for fast material removal, and coarse double-cut teeth on the other for more refined shaping. It is manufactured with 3/16"-thick steel and features a 2"-long tang that fits into our adjustable file handle (available separately). Wax files feature broad patterns of coarse teeth that quickly and efficiently cut and shape hard wax and other relatively soft materials for model-making. The teeth resist clogging, allow you to form the basic shape for your design models, and then refine their details prior to creating molds. Among the finest jewelers' files in the world, Friedrich Dick files are made of tough chrome/tool steel alloy and precisely machined to yield sharp corners and fine points. These files have deep-cut teeth that provide efficient, uniform stock removal; they are 66–67 HRC hardness for exceptional service with minimal care.
