Mined in Nevada, this American Mined™ chalcedony cabochon features a dusty pink to a light lavender color, making each gemstone unique. Its durability makes it ideal for setting in bezel mountings in nearly any style of jewelry. Combine it with complementary-color gemstones to create mixed-gem pendants, rings and bracelets or use it by itself to draw attention to its soft color. A compact microcrystalline quartz, chalcedony (pronounced "cal-SID-nee") is a tough, durable gemstone that is ideal for carving, cabochons and beads. Pure chalcedony is white; individual chalcedonies are labeled by the colors that come from trace minerals. Most varieties of chalcedony are dyed to enhance their color. Rio is proud to offer the American Mined™ Collection, a growing selection of gemstones sourced from mines located here in America. These gemstones consistently present the excellent color, clarity and quality we look for in every gem we offer you. Each of these gemstones allows us to provide a clear, documentable path from the mine to your bench; you and your customers can be confident that every one is mined, cut and processed under conditions that meet all standards for worker safety, environmental protection and responsible production.
