This 14-karat marquise-shaped white gold safety clasp features a granulated texture and an intricate open filigree design that complements strung bracelet and necklace designs. The two-part safety feature of the clasp ensures your piece will stay put even if one of the closing mechanisms fails; ideal for pearls and other high-end designs. Safety clasps (also called pearl clasps) feature two parts that connect in two different ways, providing a fail-safe that helps prevent loss of higher-value necklaces or strands and are ideal for pearl and gemstone strands. The interior part of the clasp is a slender hook with notches along the outer edge; the exterior part is hollow except for a locking bar. The interior part hooks over the locking bar and then slides inside the exterior part, the notches catching along the inner sides to hold the clasp securely closed. Even if the notches fail for any reason, the hook keeps the strand in place.
