The apatite beads on this strand offer light- to medium-blue tones and a fully faceted cube shape, adding light-catching qualities to your jewelry. Apatite presents bright, strong blue or green color and attractive, visible inclusions when properly cut. The gem occurs as hexagonal prisms or tabular crystals and consists of calcium phosphate with some fluorine, chlorine, and other elements. The name "apatite" is Greek in origin from a word meaning "to deceive," due primarily to its similarity to other minerals such as olivine, peridot and beryl.
