This A-grade freshwater cultured gray button pearl is half-drilled, making it ideal for setting onto pearl pegs for pendants, drops, or earrings. Highlight its pale gray iridescent color by setting it in silver, or add contrast to custom designs by combining it with multi-color stones and yellow-gold findings. Use jeweler’s epoxy to secure the pearl on a pearl peg. Freshwater cultured pearls are cultivated in fresh water from mussels, often the triangle shell mussel (Hyriopsis cumingii), that are specially selected for their prolific production of nacre. It is not unusual for a single mussel to produce multiple pearls simultaneously. A-grade pearls feature surfaces that show a few insignificant blemishes. Their luster is good, exhibiting some depth.
