22K Yellow Gold Sheet, 1/4-Hard, 18 ga. (1.21 mm)

This 1/4-hard, 22-karat yellow gold sheet offers the benefit of having high-karat fabrication metal ready when you need it; keep sheet on hand and custom-cut it to the exact size and shape your design requires. (And collect all your scraps—you'll help recycle precious metals and collect cash for your efforts.) 1/4-hard sheet is a bit resistant to bending but readily takes shape. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable by annealing, heat-hardening or work-hardening. When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. This sheet features a bright shiny finish. For example:

18-gauge sheet is useful for pendants, mid- and narrow-width ring shanks and for cuff bracelets. 

20-gauge sheet is useful for bezel back plates that will have texture or embellishments applied, for wide-shank ring shanks, for pendants and for cuff bracelets.

22-gauge sheet is useful for back plates that extend beyond the bezel wall and/or will have texture or embellishments applied; also great for creating earring or pendant components.

24-gauge sheet is useful for creating back plates for bezel settings.

As you know, metal sheet has as many uses as there are jewelers and designers who use it to achieve their vision; these suggested uses simply represent some of the more common applications of this metal weight.

This yellow gold sheet can be ordered in sizes up to 4" x 4" (larger dimensions can be special ordered); due to the cutting capabilities of the shear, minimum purchase is 1" x 1/2". Ideal for high-end designs and for pieces that are not exposed to a great deal of daily wear and tear, high-karat gold materials are highly workable and deliver a signature deep-yellow color to designs.
