Sterling Silver Square Wire, Dead-Soft

This dead-soft, sterling silver square wire features four flat sides; the flat surfaces are ideal for aligning two or more strands with one another and when soldering components to the wire. Give the wire a twist to create attractive twist wire. Simple hoops, bangles and other components take on a fresh, dynamic look when made using square wire. Dead soft wire is easy to bend, shape and hammer; it is an ideal starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. 4-gauge wire is useful for substantial or heavy jewelry designs, accessories and hollowware or for any designs that demand high durability; the heaviest gauges (4–0 ga.) are suitable for forging and heavy manipulation. As you know, jewelry wire has as many uses as there are jewelers and designers who use it to achieve their vision; these suggested uses simply represent some of the more common applications of this metal weight. This heavy sterling silver wire is packaged in 3-ft. lengths that can be cut to any length, 1" and up. Quantities greater than three feet will be filled by a number of 3-ft. pieces plus whatever cut length is needed to meet the quantity ordered. Due to the cutting capabilities of the shear, minimum purchase is 1".
