This tanzanite saucer bead features a blue-violet color with a unique pattern of inclusions, giving each bead an individual look. Saucer beads are ideal as spacers between larger round or special shaped beads and are great components in drop and dangle designs. Each bead is hand-cut; size will vary slightly. Tanzanite, a name first used by Tiffany & Co., is a blue/purple variety of zoisite, which is a trichroic gemstone—it often exhibits different colors when seen from different directions. These stones are cut to show the orientation of deep blue to violet-blue colors; the blue color is due to the traces of vanadium in the crystal structure.
