This 1/2-hard, 18-karat yellow gold half-round sizing stock is named for its use in enlarging rings. Additionally, this high-karat wire is popular for shaping rings and cuff or bangle bracelets using metal-forming techniques. 1/2-Hard stock is partially work-hardened and will hold its shape under some stress; ideal for forming structures that will support other components. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another).
