Mexican Fire Opal Round Faceted Gemstone

Offering a unique bright color, this Mexican fire opal displays a reddish orange to orangish red hue. Use the gem by itself to create simple earrings or rings, or combine it with an assortment of complementary-color gemstones to create more complex designs, such as bracelets and necklaces. The gemstone is clear with no inclusions visible to the unaided eye. Fire opal displays a fiery red-orange color that is due to fine traces of iron oxide and does not usually contain the flashes of light and color typical of other opals. Like other opals, however, fire opal is composed of silicon and water. The Aztec culture held that a gem with this fire and beauty had to have originated in the seas of Paradise. Fire opal is the only natural opal that is normally faceted. Round-cut gemstones are highly popular and the most commonly available.
