14K Yellow Gold Heat-Treatable Sheet

This 1/4-hard, 14-karat yellow gold sheet can be made more durable after heat-treating. Sheet offers the benefit of having fabrication metal ready when you need it; keep sheet on hand and custom-cut it to the exact size and shape your design requires. (And collect all your scraps—you'll help recycle precious metals and collect cash for your efforts.) Metal that is 1/4-hard is a bit resistant to bending but readily takes shape; it is ideal for forming more simpler shapes as it will work-harden more quickly. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. This sheet features a bright shiny finish. 30-gauge sheet is useful for forming and corrugation to create components. As you know, metal sheet has as many uses as there are jewelers and designers who use it to achieve their vision; these suggested uses simply represent some of the more common applications of this metal weight. This yellow gold sheet can be ordered in sizes up to 12" x 6"; due to the cutting capabilities of the shear, minimum purchase is 1" x 1/2". Heat-treatable yellow gold is a lighter-gauge material that retains strength and durability; even small, thin parts made with this sheet are durable after heat-treating. This product is annealed at 1,200°F (649°C), yet can be easily heat-treated to a tensile strength of 145,000psi (245dph). It is suitable for items that need extra strength, such as bracelets, settings, hollow designs, beads and spring-type products.
