This aquamarine cushion sugarloaf cabochon features a medium-blue color that provides a great color against any metal type, either on its own or partnered with any other gemstone colors. Its relative hardness makes it a great choice for a ring; set it on its own, or pair it with complementary gemstones in blue, green and pastel shades. One of the most intriguing and desirable cabochon styles, sugarloaf cabs are cut to have a rounded, pyramid-like upper surface instead of the typical domed profile; the edges of the pyramid are rounded rather than being sharply angled. In this gemstone, the base is four-sided, like a cushion-cut gem. Combine it with complementary-color gemstones such as amethyst or sapphire to create complex multicolor pendant, earring and ring designs. Aquamarine is the birthstone for March. Aquamarine, a transparent pastel blue to green-blue variety of beryl, is relatively abundant and often completely flawless.
