Fretz® RF-Series Large Fluting Repoussé and Chasing Tool Set

Perform a wide range of hand-wrought metal shaping and forming tasks with these quality-made, hardened steel tools from Fretz®. This set includes six larger-size Fretz RF-series tools with a range of tip sizes designed for introducing bolder fluted forms into metal using embossing (chasing) techniques; ideal for more substantial jewelry and hollowware forms such as cuff or bangle bracelets, bottles and bowls. The shank of the tool is squared-off and matte-finished with a 90° twist at the end, providing a secure, slip-free grip while working. The tip of the tool is highly polished with a mirror finish to form without marring the metal surface. Fluting tools are ideal for creating sharp (or somewhat rounded, depending on the shape of the tip) folds and creases in metal. This attractive form appears in both curved and flat surfaces, creating textural three-dimensional forms. Use large fluting stakes for bolder or wider flutes, or when subtle control is desired. Stakes with rounded profiles produce curved flutes while straight stakes are more suited to straight flutes. Different radii create different widths and also determine the texture within each flute. The wider the tool within a given width, the less texture will be created.
