This pear-shaped briolette peridot bead is slightly flattened and faceted around its entire surface, creating light-catching flashes with every movement. This bead style complements pearls or other beads in drops, dangles and pendants as well as other strung designs. A side-drilled tip allows the beads to lie flat when alternated with smaller beads. Peridot is one of the birthstones for August. Peridot is the gem form of the mineral olivine. It is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color; the green hues can vary from yellowish to brownish green, from light olive green to vibrant green. The color of each stone is a result of iron in its chemical composition. Rio Grande sources the highest-quality peridot beads available, avoiding those with visible black inclusions.
