Black Lava Round Bead Strand

The round black lava beads on this strand feature a matte finish and a highly porous surface. The numerous air pockets in this natural material make this bead incredibly lightweight; it looks great paired with turquoise, silver or nearly any other color of bead or finding—they’re a great choice for adding contrast and variety to necklace, bracelet and earring designs. They are also lightweight enough to use liberally in any design and still be comfortable on the wearer. Lava beads are made of basalt, a type of igneous rock formed in volcanic eruptions and are found in three colors: black, brown and gray (though dyeing can produce other colors). Stones made from this material are highly porous, riddled with holes and bubbles that show clearly on their finished surfaces. For some, lava stone is thought to be a symbol of strength and endurance and to promote stability in times of chaos and upheaval. Each package contains one temporarily strung 15"–16" strand.
