This wide, low-depth cast-iron pitch bowl offers 6" of surface work area, ideal for shaping flat or shallow workpieces, and includes a fitted rubber base with a ridged underside that ensures a non-slip foundation. Pitch bowls are excellent for engraving, chasing or repoussé tasks; the best pitch holding device for these tasks should be heavy and rotatable. Sufficient weight ensures that the workpiece stays in place under the pressure of whatever forming tools are used for shaping the metal. The ability to rotate smoothly provides full and easy access to the workpiece from all sides. To use the bowl, heat your pitch and press it into place inside the bowl, shaping the pitch as needed for the work you're doing.
