Black Onyx 22 x 13mm Pear Cabochon Slices

Sliced from dyed black onyx (approximately 4mm thick), this irregular pear-shaped cabochon is finished on both sides: one side is faceted all over, the other has a polished flat face and a faceted edge. This unique cut and opaque black color of this matched pair make them ideal for wire-wrapped designs. Onyx, a type of opaque chalcedony, is naturally black and is generally dyed to achieve a more uniform color—it is the most common black gemstone and is popular for creating a striking centerpiece and for adding contrast to designs that include lighter and/or more colorful gems.
