Glardon Vallorbe® Precision Half-Round Ring Hand File, Swiss Cut #2

This Glardon Vallorbe® precision half-round ring hand file has one flat and one rounded side with teeth on both; the ring style is narrower than a half-round file and has a higher dome on the rounded side that makes it especially useful for smoothing the interior of ring shanks and deeper concave edges or surfaces. The file is double-cut and tapers to a point, allowing it to access crevices, small openings, corners and the inside of larger ring shanks.This file has a Swiss cut #2; Swiss-cut files are graded by the number of teeth, counting teeth perpendicular to the long axis of the file. In all cut styles, the higher the number, the finer its cut.A double-cut file features two sets of evenly spaced teeth set in two directions, one at a slightly different angle than the other. Double-cut files are designed to cut more aggressively, maximizing the work of each stroke to remove more metal with fewer strokes. At the end of the stroke, the file should be lifted from the workpiece and repositioned for the next stroke; dragging the file backward against the metal can mar the metal and damage the teeth.Hand files, also called 'full-size' files, feature a larger cutting surface that is longer and wider than other file types and are ideal for fast, efficient removal of material from the workpiece for initial shaping, for smoothing and, in finer cuts, for finishing.
