This 14-karat yellow gold ring mounting features a bezel mounting with walls modeled from decorative gallery wire and holds a 12 x 10mm oval cabochon or other flat-back stone. A wide rim inside the walls supports the stone and reduces metal weight, making the mounting more affordable. Use traditional bezel techniques to secure the cabochon in the mounting. Place your stone in the bezel and push the walls inward over the stone, holding it in place. For added security, if desired, place a drop or two of jeweler's epoxy along the rim before placing the stone.
