This 1/2-hard, 13-gauge copper bezel strip is slit (cut) from larger sheet, giving it crisp, squared-off edges. Bezel strip is an economical way to get just the right amount of material in the gauges you need. This strip is useful for forming custom-shaped or larger bezel mountings or for making bezel backings for small stones. Metal that is 1/2-hard partially work-hardened and will hold its shape under some stress; ideal for forming structures that will support other components. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. Sold in a 1-lb. coil to prevent damage. The color of copper is popular for a variety of mixed-metal and alternative metal designs; its affordability adds an additional facet to its popularity for both maker and clients.
