This heavy jeweler's ball-peen hammer from Fretz® features two curved faces, one domed and one slightly more rounded, providing a wide range of curvatures. The hammer is ideal for following after the Fretz stretching hammers to smooth out hammer marks. The weight of the head also makes it effective for forging heavy wire or ingots. Ball-peen hammers feature at least one ball-shaped face, ideal for "peening" (spreading) rivet heads to seat them and for shaping, flattening, texturing and other light forging work. These hammers are also useful for light forging and for striking steel metal-forming tools. Designed by Bill Fretz, this jeweler's hammer is built for toughness and durability. The handle is made of Padauk wood, known for its strength, stability and beauty, and is oil-finished; it’s specially shaped to give you a light touch and the neck is narrowed slightly to flex as you hammer, providing ultimate comfort. The head is cast from 420-grade stainless steel and tool hardened to 50 HRC for maximum durability and effectiveness.
